Rainy seasons, special events or nothing in particular, can cause Jakarta to be gridlocked. If you have been living here for any amount of time, it will be something you are familiar with.

We have a couple of suggestions to help you get around as easily as possible:

waze – a community-based traffic and navigation app. Join other drivers in your area who share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute.

petajakarta.org – an open source, community-led platform to collect and disseminate information about flooding and critical water infrastructure in Jakarta.

Bluebird Taxi app – if you regularly order taxis by phone and end up calling several times to see where your taxi is, download and use this app which gives you real-time updates on where your taxi is and how soon it will be coming.

Gojek is a relative newcomer, launched in 2015 in Jakarta. A motorcycle transport service with drivers sporting the distinctive green helmets. Download the app to take you to your destination quickly and safely, collect your shopping or bring you your take-away meal from your favourite restaurant..
