The landscape on Belitung is quite different and impressive with white sand beaches and artistic granite boulder rocks around and a famous spot for photographers to visit.
We travelled as a family of 4 with our 2 sons, 5 and 7 years old. We took the Sriwijaya flight from Jakarta to Belitung (Tanjung Pandan) and the hotel arranged our transfer from the airport to the hotel. We stayed at the Lor In Hotel which is close to Tanjung Tinggi the famous beach with its impressive boulder rocks and one of the only hotels on the beach, most other hotels in Belitung are in the city. The hotel was clean, the breakfast was basic and the location was across the beach. The hotel has a pool which the kids enjoyed. The hotel was separated by a road to get to the beach. The road wasn’t too busy and had a pleasant view to the ocean. We didn’t spend much time at the beach across the road as at the time we were t here there were alot of sand flies which wasn’t very pleasant 🙁
We took a day trip to the famous islands off Belitung (Pulau Lengkuas, Pulau Kepayang, Pulau Burong and Pulau Lutong) which was a highlight and a must do. We hired our own boat and explored those islands. On Pulau Lengkuas is a lighthouse which you can visit and go upstairs. It has an impressive view from the top. There are impressive boulder rocks on all the islands which is a great opportunity for the kids to climb and explore and for some great photos. We also did some snorkeling near Pulau Lengkuas which was great and has a wonderful underwater world.
